Newton's Law of cooling...

1. What is the Newton’s Law of Cooling?
The difference between an object'’s temperature and the temperature of the
surrounding environment.

2. What variables in your problem correspond with the variables in the Newton’s
Law of Cooling?
The temperature of the body and the temperature of the environment

3. According to this Law, at what time approximately the death happened?
9:36 a.m.

4. How does the room temperature affect the time of death?
If it is warmer or cooler the body decreases faster or slower the temperature

5. How does an illness (e.g. fever) affect the time of death?
The temperature of the body wouldn’t be the standard.

6. How exact is the approximation of the Newton’s Law of Cooling for predicting
the time of death?
It is kind of exact, but there are other factors to consider to get an exact time.

Questions...

4. What methods are commonly used to find the time of death?
*The rate method. Measuring the change produced by a process which takes place at aknown rate which was either initiated or stopped by the event under investigation, i.e.death.

*The concurrence method. Comparing the occurrence of events which took place atknown times with the time of occurrence of the event under investigation, i.e. death.

5. What factors are considered in Algor Mortis?
Climate, the "size" of the body, clothing and coverings, movement and humidity of the air, Immersion in water.

6. How does the environment affect the time of death?
After the body cools, it begins to reach the environmental temperature.

7. What can you tell about the different methods of temperature reading of the body?
Do they make a difference in the results?Well, maybe they do, because they are taken in very different ways, so there can be a possible change.

"The cba investigators"

Alejandra Baldenebro….Journalist ---- www.mathblogabm.blogspot.com
Brando Islas….Math Expert ---- www.brandoislas.blogspot.com
Clarissa Rivera….Forensic Scientist

Answering the questions...
1. What is forensic science?
Is the application of a broad spectrum of sciences to answer questions of interest to the
legal system. This may be in relation to a crime or to a civil action.

2. What kind of evidence can be collected in a murder case?
Blood Spills, Fingerprints, Guns, Hair, Suspect Artefacts.

3. Why is important to determine the time of death?
Because with that information the investigators can trace the murderer easily, by investigating if someone was on the crime scene at that time.

The Objective:
I think that the goal of this activity is to know that math can help us solve some situations of life like a murder, and also, to notice how Science and math can be fussioned.

Pascal's quotation

" We are usually convinced more easily by reasons we have found ourselves than by those which have occurred to others..." Pascal, Blaise

I think Pascal is right, most of the times, we don't go with what people tells us because we will always have the doubt of whether it is true or not, so when things happen to ourselves or when we are there's nothing that we can doubt about so we are convinced that things happen.

Answering the questions...

I think this activity starts with this phrase: "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter."- Martin Luther King, Jr., because this blog is a way to express our ideas, opinions and things that we care about, so we don't keep them just for ourselves and we can share it with other people.
In this course, I could use the blog to tell my teacher or others whenever I don't understand something or don't agree with a subject or something like that.

about me..=)

Hi..my name is Clarissa Rivera..I'm studying high school at Tec de Monterrey, I like to do different things, music is one of them, I love music since I was 6 years old, when I started to study piano, iIwould love to dedicate to music but I don't think I have enough skills to do that so I will follow my other interests that are human rights and relations between countries and I will study International Relations, because one day I want to become an embassador of Mexico in another country or in the UN, it is one of my goals. Other things that I like very much is to cook, it relaxes me and I think it is fun, and the other thing is to travel, I consider myself an international person..xD I like to travel and learn about other cultures, countries and lifestyles. Well, this blog is to post my ideas, things that happen to me and things about math class.
